When I was at one of the lowest points in my life, a six-month bout of deep depression, I had a dream about riding a surfboard through a massive wave filled with all the junk from my life, both physical and mental. Upon waking, I was left with the thought that if I could only stay upright on the board and not succumb to the massive wave, things might turn around. It took a few more months, but eventually, they did. I have been using this mental picture for a long time now, and when I get stressed or depressed, I remind myself to just keep surfin'.
